Training

Doctors train for years, but in order to qualify as a BASICS Hampshire doctor we train even more. It’s one thing to be an emergency or intensive care doctor or skilled GP:  working outside hospital requires extra skills.   Reading the situation, working with other emergency services,  making life or death decisions about procedures by a muddy road-side in the dark   – it’s what we train to do.
There are two compulsory training days each year where we catch up on the latest techniques and equipment, and share our experiences and what makes best practice.   We also hold monthly training sessions to expand our skills.

We train with the ambulance, police, fire and coastguard services.  And latterly with the International Search and Rescue Teams.
