| BASICS Hampshire
BASICS Hampshire currently has fifteen members: fourteen doctors and one consultant nurse. We are called to serious incidents such as road traffic accidents, industrial accidents, natural and man-made disasters (like Ufton Nervett) and to medical emergencies in people’s own homes. We all carry a pager, which is activated by Ambulance Control in Otterbourne near Winchester. Ambulance Control calls us whenever they know they could be faced with a critical patient who needs advanced intensive care on scene. Occasionally paramedics will phone us directly – for instance when a patient develops a need for us which was not predicted.
